(AP)—Floods and storms in
Southeastern Kansas had taken a
toll of at least five lives late to
day, inundated several' towns,
wrought damage estimated as
high as four million dollars and
made scores homeless. Wire
communication was hampered
and traffic on some main and
branch line railroads impeded.
Torrential rains Sunday In the wa
tersheds of the Neosho, Cottonwood
and Verdigris rivers put those streams
on the rampage and there was heavy
loss of live stock and enormous crop
t loss as the flood swept southeastward.
Reports received here Indicated the
property damage was heaviest In the
rural sections.

statement said: "Unless the incoming
administration desires an extra ses
sion and a definite program can be
agreed upon, I can see nothing that

ATLANTA, GA., Sept. IS.—(AP).—
Fifteen Gorgia banka that arera closed
with the failure of the Bankers Trust
company of Atlanta, have reopened as
separate and Independent Institutions,
and twelve others will be- reopened
within the neat week, state banking
department officials announced today.
In addition to the twelve banka that
are In the process of reorganisation,
the twenty units of the Georgia state
bank are expected to be reorganized
and reopened shortly. It was an
nounced. A meeting for the reorganisa
tion of the Georgia state bank units
will be held here the latter part of the
week.
The total resources of the reopened
banks within the next week will be
one-third of that of all the Georgia
banks that closed this summer, W. J.
Davis, general agent for the state
banking department, declared late this
afternoon. The total resources of the
closed banks, he pointed out, was
(18,000,000, while that of the reopened
banks Will be (6,000,000.
