MIAMI, Fla., September 17.—(AP)—With storm warnings displayed along the east coast of Florida from Jupiter to Key West, shipping remained in port tonight awaiting the approaching tropical disturbance reported centred southeast of Nassau in Bahama waters and moving north to northwestward. The centre of the disturbance, described by the Weather Bureau as a “very severe storm,” was expected to pass Nassau early tonight.
The Bahamas government wireless station, in constant communication with its various out-island stations, advised the Tropical Radio Company that all boats had heeded warnings to remain in port.
A survey of navigation charts by mariners indicated that the lower east coast of Florida between Palm Beach and Miami would receive the onrushing storm full in the face should the hurricane continue its course in a straight line.
Evangelist confined to her room is not arrested
Mrs. Kennedy submitted to arrest late today at the district attorney’s [unclear].
Mrs. McPherson was not arrested today, her physical condition preventing her appearance at the hall of justice. The evangelist was confined to her bed at home, suffering from what her physician described as an abscess of the nose.
