To reallocate rolling stock and facilitate transport, special express trains Nos. 7 and 8 between Beijing and Shijiazhuang will cease running with immediate effect. Ordinary passenger trains Nos. 21 and 22, with freight cars attached, will instead be formed to run daily between Beijing and Shijiazhuang, carrying passengers and goods. This notice is issued for the information of the public.

Context
Why the telephone notice specifies a currency
The bureau gives payment in silver dollars a uniform starting date and cites a ministry authorization. For subscribers, a tariff was not useful unless the means of settling it was also clear. The notice’s function is to standardize that part of the transaction across several routes. Publication after the effective date also lets the newspaper serve as a continuing reference for users and payment offices.
How a mixed train changes the use of rolling stock
The railway’s stated aim is to redistribute vehicles while continuing to carry both passengers and goods. Attaching freight cars to ordinary passenger trains lets one scheduled service serve both purposes. Removing the special expresses therefore changes the kind of service offered on the Beijing–Shijiazhuang section, as well as how the operator deploys equipment. A passenger looking only at the cancelled train numbers would miss the replacement that this notice is intended to advertise.
Curriculum reform as a market for textbooks
Commercial Press was established in Shanghai in 1897 and developed modern-school textbooks in the early twentieth century. The advertisement sells conformity to a new curriculum alongside expert authorship: ministry approval reassures schools, while educators and psychologists promise teaching quality. Its claim that the books embody the new system’s spirit presents a commercial product as a practical way for schools to participate in educational reform.
