Context
A railway excursion to watch a moving wall of water
Haining’s tide-viewing attraction is the Qiantang tidal bore, a surge that travels upriver with the incoming tide. Hangzhou’s municipal account describes visitors gathering to watch it at Haining. The special-train notice connects that natural spectacle with organized travel: the railway was offering access to an event whose appeal depended on being in the right place when the tide arrived.
Car ownership still required local paperwork
The vehicle notice addresses owners through an association, specifies a permit for the Chinese-administered area and gives a street office where it could be obtained. Owning a car did not by itself settle the formalities of using it across the city’s jurisdictions. The association acted as an intermediary, turning a particular administrative requirement into a service for its members.
Banking by two calendars
Zhongfu Bank’s notice joins an accounting event—the completion of its half-year accounts—to a date on which shareholders could receive dividends.
