Important notice from the Beijing–Hankou Railway Administration — No. 246
To adjust rolling-stock allocation and facilitate transport, this railway is suspending special express trains Nos. 7 and 8 between Beijing and Shijiazhuang with immediate effect. Ordinary passenger trains Nos. 21 and 22, with freight wagons attached, will instead run daily between Beijing and Shijiazhuang, carrying passengers and goods. This notice is issued for the information of all concerned.

Context
What vocational textbooks say about the skills being taught
Commercial Press helped supply modern Chinese education after its founding in 1897. This list brings business, agriculture and industry together as fields that could be taught systematically through books. Monetary theory sits alongside crop disease and factory management, suggesting a readership preparing for specialized economic work. The anniversary vouchers encourage schools and students to build collections rather than purchase only a single title.
Why replacing an express with a mixed train changes the service
The railway gives rolling-stock allocation as its reason for the change. Combining freight wagons and passenger coaches lets the same scheduled train serve two demands, but changes the nature of a journey previously advertised as a special express. For travellers, the relevant distinction is between keeping a daily connection and retaining an express service. The numbered notice lets passengers and shippers identify exactly which services are being replaced.
Why the telephone office specifies the means of payment
The notice changes how a call charge is collected, requiring silver dollars on the named routes. A quoted fee alone does not settle a transaction when the office also needs to specify the currency it will accept. Citing the ministry’s approval gives the change administrative authority and a date from which customers must comply. The practical issue for callers is therefore what money to bring, not a newly announced price or a new telephone line.
